UA ASCII MENUSç
UA Enables display of ASCII (or ANSI) menus if sysop has them available
UA
UD DEFAULT PROTOCOLç
UD Allows you to set a default file transfer protocol (Opus will not
UD present choices at the files menu ÄDç)ownload prompt).
UD
U+ SHOW TIMEç
U+ Toggles bracketed display of time remaining at prompts.
U+
U! MAKE MSG MACROç
U! Enables the User to define a recorded set of keystrokes for OPUS to play
U! back when the user executes the Macro within the Msg Menu Area.
U!
UK KEYS(HOT)ç
UK You can enable hotkeys at any help level (not just Hotflash) by
UK toggling this to YES.
UK
UP PGRAPHRESETç
UP Each time you log on, you can choose the type of graphics (TTY, ANSI
UP or AVATAR) if this is toggled YES.
UP
UR RETURN MENUç
UR Opus will remember your position on the board from your last logoff,
UR and will return you there after logon if you have toggled this to YES.
UR
UH HELP LEVELç
UH You can tell Opus how much menu information you need.
UH There are four help levels:
UH
UH NOVICE - A lot of help with full menus
UH REGULAR - A little help and brief menus
UH EXPERT - No help, no menus
UH HIGHTECH - Hotkey with Menu at Top of Screen
UH
UM MOREç
UM Turns the "More [Y,n,=]?" prompt on or off.
UM
UM MORE ON: Opus asks "More [Y,n]?" after displaying the number of
UM lines equal to your L)ength of screen setting.
UM
UM MORE OFF: Most information is displayed non-stop. You can still
UM pause the display using CONTROL-S to pause and any other
UM key to resume the display.
UM
UW WIDTHç
UW Tells Opus how many characters across your monitor can display.
UW This is taken into consideration for message displays ONLY.
UW Bulletins, file listings, etc. are always displayed assuming
UW you have 80 columns. Sorry folks, it's called PROGRESS.
UW
UL LENGTHç
UL Opus will test to see how many lines your screen can hold before
UL asking you "More [Y,n,=]?". 24 or 25 lines is normal. Of course,
UL if you have the MORE option set to OFF, this setting really
UL doesn't matter.
UL
UE EXPTABSç
UE Turns TAB expansion on or off.
UE
UE TABS ON: Tabs are sent as tabs. Your terminal software must be able
UE to handle tabs correctly, or the spacing on your screen will
UE not look right. Screen output is faster with Tabs ON.
UE
UE TABS OFF: Tabs are sent as a sequence of 8 spaces. Slower, but
UE more reliable. Try it both ways and see which works best.
UE
UN NULLSç
UN Nulls are ASCII 0's that some slower terminals need to keep
UN up with Opus. If you're using a personal computer, chances
UN are you don't need to worry about nulls.
UN
UV VIDEO MODEç
UV Chooses the video mode Opus uses
UV
UV The choices are:
UV
UV ÄPç)lain - Normal TTY Output
UV ÄAç)nsi Graphics (VT100 Emulation)
UV ÄOç)pus Mode (AVATAR Video)
UV
UV If the word
REDç on this line is highlighted or
UV in color, then your computer understands ANSI graphics commands.
UV Keep GRAPHICS ON. If, however, you see something like [31;1mRED above,
UV then your computer is ignoring the ANSI commands. Keep Plain Video Mode.
UV
UV AVATAR Video requires the use of either George Stanislav's
UV TinyTerm program, Colin Sampaleanu's Telix, John Friel's
UV Qmodem, Ralf Brown's RBCOMM, or FrontDoor's Terminal Mode.
UV
UV
UT TALKERç
UT Sets Opus to work more efficiently with Talker apparatus for the blind.
UT
US SCREEN CLEARç
US Tells Opus to clear the screen when appropriate.
US
US YES: Opus will clear your screen from time to time.
US NO: Material "scrolls" with no screen clear.
US
UF FULL-SCRN EDITç
UF Opus is now pioneering the concept of the first BBS full-screen
UF editor. It allows you to enter messages using arrow keys, etc.,
UF just like a word processor. If you turn OFF the F)ull-scrn editor,
UF you will use the LORE (line-oriented editor), the more orthodox
UF method. You must have S)creen clear and ANSI or AVATAR emulation ON
UF to use the Opus Full-screen editor.
UF
UI IBM GRAPHICSç
UI IBM Personal Computers<tm> and compatibles have a set of graphic
UI symbols used for line drawing, foreign languages, and scientific
UI notation. Other computers or terminals cannot usually display them.
UI
UI ╔═╗ ┌───┬───┬───┬───┐ ▄
UI ║ Montréal ║ │░░░│▒▒▒│▓▓▓│███│ ▌ αßΓπΣσµ ▐
UI ╚═╝ └───┴───┴───┴───┘ ▀
UI Double Line Box Single Line Boxes Solid Line Box
UI Accented 'e' Dark,Lo,Med,Hi Bars Greek Letters
UI
UI The above diagrams should appear as three types of continous line
UI boxes, each containing additional examples of the special
UI IBM graphic symbols.
UI
UI If Not: Toggle NO and Opus will simulate graphics with normal text.
UI If Yes: Toggle YES and Opus will send graphics, unaltered.
UI
UI
UQ QUITç
UQ Leave CHANGE SETUP Section and return to MAIN MENU.
UQ

UM information to allow the User to input a response to 'more' prompt.
UM
UB BLOCKCHATç
UB Signals OPUS that you are not (reverse is that you are) available for
UB chatting with another user who is on another node of a multi-line system.
UB

U@ back by OPUS when the macro option is executed in a File Area Menu.
U@
U* MAKEDEFMACROç
U* Allows the User to define a recorded series of keystrokes to be played
U* back by OPUS when the macro option is executed from an area other than
U* the Msg or File area Menus. See also MAKEMSGMACRO and MAKEFILEMACRO.
